Muhammad: Man with a Mission
On Wednesday 28th November Kitaba in conjunction with the City of Knowledge Academy and Al-Ishara held an event titled ‘Muhammad: Man with a Mission’ delivered by Habib Muhammad al-Saqqaf from Jeddah, Saudia Arabia.
The event began with an introduction and an address in BSL from Sadaqat Ali (al-Isharah), who expressed the need for muslim scholars and learned muslims to learn BSL and impart knowledge to the Deaf community. He reflected on the importance of Islamic scholarship and the needs of Deaf muslims which are often overlooked. Shaykh Mohammed Aslam from the city of knowledge academy also highlighted the importance for knowledge to be made accessible for all muslims. This was the first time the Deaf were catered for in one of the largest mosques in Britain. Shortly after this address, the keynote speaker al-Habib Muhammad spoke about the importance of helping disadvantaged muslims and his own personal promise to spread the message amongst all the scholars he comes into contact with.
The event was well attended by both men and women.
It is a milestone achievement in establishing more events where those with visual impairments and hearing impairments are catered for.
Al-Ishara will be holding the Deaf Khutbah in collaboration with The City of knowledge Academy in Birmingham in the near future.
