Assalamu-Alaykum and welcome to Kitaba’s Services pages. Here you will find all the services we offer, plus a few from third parties which may be of use in buying equipment, or getting further advice about visual impairment. If you have any suggestions as to how our services can be improved, or recommendations of any third party services that may be of help to visually impaired Muslims, please contact us to let us know. Our list of services include:

Consultation and Adaptation

We are happy to come and talk to mosques, schools or other institutions about visual impairment, and adapting teaching materials and services to include visually impaired brothers and sisters in Islamic classes. This includes teaching people how to guide, and steps that can be taken to make buildings and courses more accessible. We can also give advice and guidance on services available for brothers or sisters who are losing their sight and as a result, need rehabilitation support.

If you would like to utilise this service, please contact us, selecting ‘consultation’ as your subject category.

One of the Kitaba team will get in touch to discuss your needs and the best way forward. Please be aware that visits will most likely be made on weekends as the team aren’t available on weekdays. A fee will not be charged for this, though you may be asked to cover travel expenses if the Kitaba member is travelling some distance.

We can also give advice and support over the phone if this is easier for you. Please let us know what you’d prefer when contacting us.

Awareness Raising

We are happy to give talks on visual impairment, different eye conditions, and what is available to help visually impaired brothers and sisters in terms of access needs and daily living. Talks can be pitched to different audiences depending on age, and what you would like to get out of it, and can be as formal or informal as you like.

No fee will be charged for this service, but again, visits will most likely be made at weekends as Kitaba members aren’t available during the week. If we have to travel some distance, you may be asked to assist with travel expenses.

To utilise this service, please choose ‘Raising Awareness’ when contacting us. One of the team will get in touch to discuss your requirements.
